Our 460 Compound Steam Oil is specially selected for use with most brands of live steam garden railway locomotives, and our own piston and cylinder upgrades. Compound Steam Oil is different from other lubricating oils as it emulsifies with steam under pressure, which is ideal for lubricating 'O' ring pistons.
The oil is very thick and so best to warm it up on a cold day by rolling the bottle between your hands a few time to thin the oil ready for pouring or injecting into the oil cup. The heat from the boiler then keeps it thin enough to feed through the lubricator pipe.
