In the 1920s, the Deutsche Reichsbahn received the first self-unloading funnel cars for the transport of ballast to track construction sites. The most important innovation on the wagons was a sophisticated system of flaps and chutes, with which the loaded ballast could be distributed very specifically next to and between the rails. PIKO has placed the greatest focus on this important feature in the design of the new funnel trolleys, thus creating a model with very high play value. As with the prototype, sand and fine gravel can be distributed over different flaps.
